Comic Con Africa 2020 will not have a physical event. Less than a month ago we reported that the expo organisers were assuring fans it was all systems go for the geek culture and gaming event. This week though, Comic Con Africa announced the convention will be run completely online this year. Ticket holders will be able to utilise their tickets in 2021 or request a refund. No word yet on how the online event will be structured, but it is scheduled to run over the same dates: 24-27 September 2020.
Tune into the PS5 Future of Gaming Event tonight (11 June) at 22:00 SAST for the PlayStation 5 showcase. PS4 owners can RSVP to the event under their PS4 Events tab for their consoles to automatically launch the stream when the show kicks off. Glitched has more details on what to expect.
FIFA players competing against celebrities, that’s the thing now. The #ToyotaEsportsChallenge which has a first prize of R50 000, entered their Top 32 rounds this week. The top players from the group stages face off against one another and “wildcards” which include musicians and popular sports stars. So far, the celebrities have been unable to net goals against their opponents.
The #3Teams1City Challenge was also announced. This is a pay to play tournament with an opportunity to compete against various athletes from Cape Town based sports clubs.

Gaming peripheral brand RedDragon have officially launched local social media channels this week. The announcement was made in the Syntech Gaming Community Facebook Group.
